Following being shortlisted for Sports & Leisure Architect of the year in the 2017 Building Design magazine awards we are excited to see the DarntonB3 designed Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre has now also started on site.
Following initial appointment by the Council as Architect and Building Services Engineer, DarntonB3 has been novated to work with design and build contractor Speller Metcalfe to deliver this improved facility for Warwick District Council. The building services design team at DarntonB3 have been retained by Warwick District Council to represent the client throughout the build.
Warwick District Council is investing £14.5 million in improvements to the leisure centres at Newbold Comyn and St Nicholas Park with the assistance of Sport England funding.
The design seeks to embody the requirements of a modern, bespoke leisure facility and reinvigorate Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre to achieve its potential as a key community leisure destination.
The major new extension and refurbishment of Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre will offer the following improved facilities:
• Dynamic new 100 station gym
• Multi-use sports hall
• Three group fitness studios including spin studio
• New changing rooms throughout the centre
• Re-designed entrance, reception and café area
• Exciting “clip and climb” climbing wall
