The Taff Vale redevelopment, comprising 10,700 sq m of offices, 2400 sq m of community facilities and 400 sqm of café restaurant space is a major element in the regeneration of Pontypridd’s town centre.
DarntonB3 was appointed in December 2016 to lead a multidisciplinary design team following a competition which attracted some of the UK’s leading design practices. DarntonB3 will develop the concept design through the planning process through construction to completion.
The projects comprise three buildings, two new landscaped pedestrian streets and a new riverside walkway above a basement area housing car parking and plant rooms. The office space is provided in the large larger five storey buildings, which also include café / restaurant space at ground floor level. The zinc clad curved community building provides a focus for the scheme and is designed as a counterpoint to the historic 18th century arched stone bridge adjacent to the site.
The project is due for completion in 2019.
