\\ Client Aspiration
Our client had secured a greenfield plot in an edge of village location with a precedence of stone-built housing and some conservation areas.
Outline planning had been secured for a single dwelling with garage, including formation of access.
The brief was to design a contemporary home with a traditional feel, including requirements to maximise open plan space and provide 4 bedrooms with separate study and lounge area.
DarntonB3 worked out an asymmetric layout, which maximised exposure of open plan cook/eat/relax areas to the South facing garden with extensive external entertainment areas.
A centralised entrance and staircase area added to the open plan feel of the ground floor with immediate access to ancillary rooms.
A bespoke feel as achieved with the inclusion of a feature staircase with glazed balustrading, together with a hand-built kitchen and ‘through’ house interior design solution.
A traditional build approach was selected following a review of cost and programme on a range of solutions including off-site and sips panels.
The client opted for a self build approach with design and project management carried out by DarntonB3. The build programme lasted 6 months.
