DarntonB3 acted as Architects and Design Team Leaders for this landmark music and art facility at the University of Huddersfield.
The project won a commendation in the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists Award for Technical Excellence category, together with a local RIBA White Rose award.
We successfully coordinated the input of contractor, Mechanical & Electrical Engineers, Civil & Structural Engineers, Quantity Surveyor, Acoustic Engineers and BREEAM Assessors to deliver the project on time and to programme parameters.
A key feature of the Creative Arts Building is a Public Performance space which is multi-functional in use. The space acts as Lecture Theatre, Specialist Music rehearsal and performance space, with associated recording facilities.
The performance space incorporates high level recording studio viewing windows, together with access to green rooms and instrument stores. There is a permanent organ within the facility, which called for special acoustic requirements to be designed into the facility.
Specialist performance lighting is incorporated in the performance space along with a timber raised floor system to enhance the quality of the performance acoustics.
We can assist in the development of long term campus development plans, through to the refurbishment and maintenance of existing teaching facilities.
Award-winning, sustainable schemes have been designed, including flagship new build developments and our teams are well versed in the development of close, long term client relationships.
We are appointed to a number of framework agreements throughout the UK. We seek to increase the quality of the learning experience and aid in the achievement of sustainable improvement.
